In class and on our own we watched a movie about Don Quixote and how leaders throughout the world should be more like him.

Do I Agree?

I personally for the most part do not agree with this idea that elders should be more like Don Quixote. I honestly do not even believe that Don Quixote himself is a leader. How I see it, a leader has to have followers and Don Quixote only really had one follower and he basically had to bribe him to come along with him. He a also does not reflect any good qualities of a leader whatsoever. To me, the only thing that actually comes to mind when comparing Don Quixote and a good leader is that a good leader must have a good imagination and vision for his followers, and some might say that Don Quixote has this. Again, I don’t personally believe that he has any followers, but he does have a very large imagination. He sees things and has a vision that only he can see and he tries to get others to see it too. A lot of people would say that is a great quality of a good leader.

In the video, “Don Quixote’s Lessons for Leadership”, there are four main qualities that every leader should strive for. They are Imagination, Commitment, Joy, and Beauty. Like I already mentioned, Don Quixote is not lacking whatsoever when it comes to imagination, and some would say he’s pretty committed as well. He also seems to love what he does so that definitely brings joy into his life. I find it difficult to find the beauty however with him. Some people might disagree.

Sancho Finally Gets His Island!

In this reading we find out that Sancho Panza finally gets to be the governor of his very own island. This is an exciting reading because this is what I have been waiting for for a very long time. It’s exciting because Sancho has always been following along with Don Quixote and has never really gotten to do his own thing and be his own person until now. He is actually a pretty good governor too. I am excited to see what will happen next as well as what will next happen with Don Quixote.
